Ferndale softball beats Oak Harbor 14-3 to win seventh straight

The Ferndale softball team earned its seventh straight win with a 14-3 non-conference victory in six innings against Oak Harbor Wednesday, April 24, at Ferndale High School.

Pitcher Scarlett Nyenhuis added her fourth win of the season, and Corrie Wilson recorded three of Ferndale's 14 hits. Wilson went 3 for 4 with two doubles and five RBI.

"This is the second time we played them this year, and last time we played them it went into extras, and we won in the eighth inning," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said during a phone interview. "I think it shows good improvement."

The Golden Eagles scored four runs in the first, two in the second and three in the third to take a 9-2 lead into the fourth inning. Nyenhuis, Sydney Shawler and Taylor Solomon each recorded multi-hit games. Ferndale pitcher Erika Ebe relieved Nyenhuis in the fourth and threw three innings of one-run softball. Nyenhuis and Ebe combined for a four-hitter.

Ferndale hosts Meridian next at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26.
