Squalicum outlasts Mount Baker, wins 10-9

The Squalicum baseball team held on to win 10-9 against Mount Baker in eight innings in a Northwest Conference game at home Wednesday, April 24.

"We played a really good game and had it under control and that Mount Baker team never quits," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "We were up 9-3 and they scored six to come back. We played a tight, sharp game and swung the bats well and they still hung in there and gave us a game."

Cody Larson and Titus Balvanz each went 2 for 4 and Nick Larson went 3 for 4 for the Mountaineers (3-7 NWC, 6-11).

Landon Tripp went 2 for 4 and Kyle Little and Ben Johnson each went 2 for 3 for the Storm (3-7 NWC, 4-14).

Harper Moore earned the win after replacing Brad Alvord for Squalicum.

"Harper did a nice job getting out of the mess and did a nice job in the eighth not letting them score," Inge said. "He was very poised and did a great job. I'm proud of how we played and I'm sure their coach is proud of how they came back. I don't want to see them any time soon."

Squalicum travels to Lynden Christian on Friday, April 26, while Mount Baker hosts Anacortes, both NWC games.
