Blaine girls' tennis sweeps Friday Harbor

The Blaine girls' tennis team earned its first sweep of the season with a 7-0 non-conference win against Friday Harbor Wednesday, April 24, at Blaine High School.

Borderites Saskia Dolk and Elizabeth Berry won singles matches, and five Blaine pairings won their doubles matches. Borderites doubles team Katie Morley and Hope Wilkett won their match 6-0, 6-0.

"They played well," said Blaine coach John Freal of his team during a phone interview. "Friday Harbor doesn't really have a strong team. They're just kind of learning, but I was glad to see, especially our first doubles, take care of business. Everybody played pretty well."

Blaine won back-to-back matches for the second time this season after beating Lynden Tuesday, April 23. The Borderites (5-6, 2-3 NWC) play Bellingham next at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Blaine High School.
