Meridian scores in eighth to defeat Lyncs 4-3

The Meridian baseball team scored in the eighth inning to defeat Lynden Christian 4-3 in a Northwest Conference game Wednesday, April 24, in Lynden.

"It was a tough loss for us," Lynden Christian coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. "It was two of 1A's best pitchers today so it was fun to watch. They were just a little better."

Chad Richter earned the win on the mound for the Trojans (4-6 NWC, 10-6) as well as hitting 2 for 3 and Jeremy Brockmann went 1 for 2.

The Lyncs (2-8 NWC, 7-10) were led by Jamie Heystek, who went 2 for 4 and Austin VanderHaak, who went 2 for 3.

The Trojans travel to Friday Harbor on Thursday, April 25, in a non-conference game while the Lyncs host Squalicum on Friday, April 26, for a NWC game.
