Webb wins GNAC Men's Golfer of the Year

Western Washington University's Jake Webb, who took medalist honors at the conference tournament earlier this week and is the league's scoring leader, has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Year in an announcement of league awards made Wednesday, April 24.

Receiving Coach of the Year honors for the sixth straight year was Steve Card, whose Vikings are 6-for-6 in titles won at GNAC tournaments.

Webb took the GNAC tourney title in a one-hole playoff after being tied with teammate Dylan Goodwin after 54 holes.

Webb has a GNAC-leading 73.3 scoring average, and Goodwin is third at 74.1.

Webb and Goodwin were two of four Vikings named GNAC first-team all-stars. It is the third time that Goodwin has earned the honor and the second for Webb.

Rounding out the first-team conference all-stars for WWU were Mark Strickland and Evan Needham. Strickland ranks second among GNAC scorers at 73.7.
