Chala, Squalicum top Mount Baker 4-0

The Squalicum boys' soccer team blanked Mount Baker 4-0 on Tuesday, April 23, in a Northwest Conference matchup at Mount Baker.

Christian Chala got the Storm out to an early lead with a goal in the second minute. Chala didn't wait long to get his next goal, either, giving Squalicum a 2-0 advantage just 12 minutes later.

"Christian Chala had some real pretty goals," Squalicum coach Joe McAuliffe said in a phone interview.

The story of the game was the Storm's smothering, relentless defense that only allowed three shots on goal the entire game.

"They were very organized and talking," McAuliffe said. "It wasn't a soft game, and our opponent was really well organized and played with a great deal of heart."

Both Squalicum (8-4-2, NWC 6-2-2) and Mount Baker (6-7-1, 3-6-1) play on Thursday, April 25, with the Storm playing Lynden Christian and Mount Baker hosting Anacortes.
