Mount Baker falls shy of nine-run comeback

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 24, 2013

Mount Baker fell just one run short of mounting a nine-run comeback, falling to Sedro-Woolley 9-8 on Tuesday, April 23, at Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference game.

After falling behind 9-0, the Mountaineers roared back with two runs in the sixth and six in the bottom of the seventh, but they left the tying run stranded on second to end the game.

"I am extremely happy for my team to show that kind of resiliency," Mount Baker coach Quinn LeSage said in a phone interview. "We had chances early to score, but it's pretty nice for our team to fight with our backs against the wall."

Titus Balvanz and Jacob Marr combined for five RBI in the loss.

Mount Baker (6-10, NWC 3-6) hosts Anacortes on Friday, April 26, in a Northwest Conference match.
