Blaine rides strong first inning to top Sehome 5-3


The Blaine softball team rode a four-run first inning en route to a 5-3 win over Sehome on Tuesday, April 23, in a Northwest Conference matchup.

"Right from the get-go, we were able to jump on them in the first inning," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "It was a great day for hitting."

Selena Pai and Mikayla Deming combined to go 4 for 6 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBI. Ashley Bolick had another strong performance in the circle, picking up her eighth win of the season in a complete-game performance.

Sehome nearly mounted a comeback after scoring three in the top of the sixth, but the Borderites answered with a run of their own to seal the win.

Sehome (4-8, NWC 2-5) hosts Bellingham on Wednesday, April 24, while Blaine (9-4, 5-3) travels to Friday Harbor on Thursday, April 25.
