Ferndale scores four in the 10th


The Ferndale softball team scored four runs in the 10th inning to win 6-2 at Lynden Christian in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 23.

"Both teams played extremely well," Lynden Christian coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. "It was a clean ball game until the 10th inning."

Ferndale won on the Kansas City tie breaker, a rule in which the inning starts with a runner on second base.

Sydney Shawler went 2 for 4 with a double and Lauren Maley went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Golden Eagles (6-2 NWC, 9-6).

Lexi Vander Griend went 2 for 5 and Lexi Holleman went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Lyncs (1-6 NWC, 3-10).

Ferndale hosts Oak Harbor in a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 24, while Lynden Christian travels to Lynden Friday, April 26.
