The Nooksack Valley softball team scored early to win 27-0 at home over Squalicum in five innings in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 23.

"I think we outmanned them tonight," Nooksack Valley coach Tom Harmon said in a phone interview. "Both teams were competing hard and we just had a little bit more than they did. You always have to give both teams credit for working really hard, we were just fortunate tonight to have things go our way."

Lindsay Pysden, Brianna Pride and Brittney Jorgensen each had a hit for the Storm (1-6 NWC, 2-12).

Melanie Brown led the Pioneers (4-3 NWC, 8-5) and went 3 for 5 with three RBI and five runs and Brittney Allen went 3 for 5 with four runs, two RBI and a double.

"We hit the ball well and it was nice to get some kids back in the lineup that we havn't had for a while," Harmon said.

The Pioneers travel to Burlington-Edison on Thursday, April 25, for a Northwest Conference game, while Squalicum hosts Blaine on Friday, April 26.
