Lions score in the ninth to win

The Lynden softball team scored in the ninth inning to win 4-3 at home over Mount Baker in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 23.

"It was a tough game," Lynden coach Steve Petersen said in a phone interview. "Baker just scratched and clawed and played really, really good. They threw some good defense at us and made great plays. Both teams were battling and composed and played solid defense."

Brooke Bonsen earned the win for the Lions (7-0 NWC, 10-3) on top of going 3 for 4 with a run and Taylor VanDalen went 2 for 4 with a run.

Aleks Toivola went 3 for 4 with two RBI, Megan Young went 2 for 4 with a run and Emily Brandland went 1 for 3 for Mount Baker (3-4 NWC, 6-6).

Lynden hosts Lynden Christian in a Northwest Conference game Friday, April 26, while Mount Baker travels to Sedro-Woolley.
