WWU to test emergency alert system Friday morning, April 26

BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University will test its Western Alert emergency notification system at 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 26.

The test will include sounding the Big Ole steam whistle as an outdoor alert, testing voice messages over the campus fire alarm system, sending text messages to those who have registered for them and emails to students and staff, and posting a message on the university's Web page, Facebook page, Twitter feed and its emergency communication page, emergency.wwu.edu.

School officials advise students and staff to use the drill to review personal emergency plans.
