Mountaineers come back, win 4-3 over Blaine


The Mount Baker baseball team came back to win 4-3 over Blaine in a Northwest Conference game Monday, April 22, in Blaine.

"They scored three runs with two outs in the seventh and got some big hits," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview. "We commited an error and Cody Larson hit a single up the middle to get them the lead. It was a good high school game that was hard fought on both sides. They got a couple clutch hits."

Mount Baker scored three runs in the seventh and held on only allowing one run by Blaine to earn the win.

Larson went 2 for 4 with two RBI and Jacob Marr went 1 for 4 to lead the Mountaineers (3-5 NWC, 6-10).

Matt Vogee went 2 for 4 with a run and two RBI and Cody Gobbato went 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead Blaine (0-10 NWC, 6-12).

Mount Baker hosts Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 23, while Blaine travels to Lynden on Wednesday, April 24.
