Blaine shuts out Trojans 12-0

The Blaine softball team only allowed three hits in its 12-0 win over Meridian in a Northwest Conference game Monday, April 22, at Meridian High School.

"I thought it was a really good, close game even though the score doesn't show that," Meridian coach Tony Johnson said in a phone interview. "Blaine got one run in the first, but then their next four were from errors or dropped flys. We need to learn to make those plays."

Ashley Bolick earned the win for the Borderites (4-3 NWC, 8-5) and went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. Lexi Greguski went 3 for 5 with four runs and Hanna Kiele went 2 for 5 with a run and three RBI.

The Trojans (2-4 NWC, 4-8) were led by McKenna Smith and Victoria Coe, who each went 1 for 3 with a double and Emma Weg, who went 1 for 1.

Blaine hosts Sehome in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 23, while Meridian travels to Anacortes.
