Ferndale baseball earns win over Squalicum

The Ferndale baseball team ran its winning streak to three after a 14-1, 5 inning win Monday, April 22, at home over Squalicum.

Brady Shearer was 2 for 2 with two runs and four RBI, Marshall Weston was 2 for 2 with a run and two RBI, Brady Bauthues was 2 for 2 with a run and an RBI and Anthony Pace was 1 for 2 with two RBI and two runs for the Golden Eagles, who have two games remaining in the regular season.

Joey Akers (4-2) earned the win by only giving up four hits, striking out one and walking two in five innings of work.

Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said his team played well.

"That was one of our most complete games we've had," said Hennigs in a phone interview, but he said there is still work to do before the regular season ends. "We just have to start fine tuning some things, get everybody hitting, sharpen up before (the postseason) gets going next week."

The Golden Eagles (11-6, 7-2) host Lynden at 4 p.m. Friday, April 26, and the Storm (3-14, 2-7) plays Mount Baker at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Joe Martin Field.
