Pioneers fall 11-0

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 23, 2013

The Nooksack Valley baseball team lost 11-0 in a Northwest Conference game at home to Anacortes on Tuesday, April 22.

"We were in it and hung around," Nooksack Valley coach Scott Gelwicks said in a phone interview. "We played just good enough to keep us in it and Brandon Gwinner pitched just good enough to keep us in it but in the seventh we fell apart. We couldn't generate runs so we were playing an uphill battle the whole game."

The Pioneers gave up eight runs in the seventh inning.

Ethan Vinup went 2 for 3 for the Pioneers (2-5 NWC, 5-9) in the loss.

"I was really happy with how we played the first six innings," Gelwicks said. "We played gutty and didn't play great but we didn't give up and I was proud of that."
