WWU men's golf up by one stroke at GNAC Championships


Heavily favored Western Washington University leads by just one shot after the first round of the Sixth Annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships, which began Monday, April 22, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Monday's second round was halted because of darkness. It will be completed along with the third and final round Tuesday, April 23.

The Vikings, ranked second in the West Region and eighth nationally in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Poll, shot a 15-over par 291. Just one stroke behind at 292 in the five-team field is Simon Fraser University.

Three WWU players are among the top 10 in medalist play. Jake Webb is second at 1-under 70, Dylan Goodwin tied for third at even par 71 and Kyle Schrader tied for sixth at 73.
