Gilmore tosses gem in 6-2 Squalicum win

The Squalicum baseball team defeated Blaine 6-2 on Saturday, April 20, in a Northwest Conference game at Blaine.

Staley Gilmore was impressive in his first win of the season, tossing a complete game five-hitter while also going 3 for 4 at the plate.

"Staley (threw) a gutty complete game," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "He was the big story. He did it on the bump and at the plate."

Landon Tripp had a solid game both at the plate and on the bases for the Storm, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Storm's Ben Johnson enjoyed a multi-hit game, going 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI. Brad Alvord and Kyle Little each went 1 for 3, and Alvord drove in two of Squalicum's six runs.

Blaine's Matt Vogee went 2 for 2, and Brett Allen was 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Both Squalicum (3-13, NWC 2-6) and Blaine (6-11, 0-9) play on Monday, April 22, with the Storm traveling to Ferndale and the Borderites hosting Mount Baker. Both are NWC match ups.
