Ferndale powers past Meridian 8-3

The Ferndale baseball team dropped 13 hits on Meridian en route to an 8-3 win on Saturday, April 20, in a Northwest Conference match up at Meridian.

"The story of the game was Ferndale's offense being able to string hits together," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview.

Brady Bauthues picked up the win on the mound while also going 2 for 4 at the plate with two doubles. Brady Shearer added a perfect 3 for 3 day for the Golden Eagles, as well.

Meridian was able to match Ferndale run for run in the first two innings, but a two-run third and four-run fourth put the game out of reach.

"We just couldn't bounce back," Slesk said. "We held them at bay in the fifth, sixth and seventh, but we didn't have enough to get back into the game."

Meridian's Tanner Tutterow went 2 for 3, and Kyle Linderman had one of the Trojans' seven hits.

Both Ferndale (10-6, NWC 6-2) and Meridian (9-5, 3-5) play next on Monday, April 22, with the Golden Eagles hosting Squalicum and the Trojans traveling to Burlington-Edison. Both are NWC games.
