Blaine captures 3-1 over Friday Harbor

The Blaine boys' soccer team defeated Friday Harbor 3-1 on Saturday, April 20, in a non-league match up.

Nick Butschli scored the Borderites' first goal in the 21st minute, and he assisted on a Denton Morin goal in the 37th minute to give Blaine a commanding 2-0 lead entering the half.

"We came out pretty strong," Blaine coach Mike Cuoto said in a phone interview. "Coming off a tough loss (Friday), they came out really hungry to push hard, and for the most part they maintained possession for most of the game."

Despite not assisting or scoring, Cuoto praised the play of Konner Van Rigswijck.

"Konner made the plays happen," Cuoto said. "He played a pivotal role giving his whole heart the whole 80 minutes of the game."

Blaine (3-10-0, NWC 1-8-0) travels to Lynden on Tuesday, April 23, in an NWC match up.
