Lyncs score four in second half to top Nooksack 5-3

The Lynden Christian boys' soccer team defeated Nooksack Valley 5-3 on Saturday, April 20, in a Northwest Conference league match at Nooksack Valley.

Nooksack's Luke VanWingerden notched his third hat trick of the week in the loss.

"Luke has been working so hard," Nooksack Valley coach Valentin Villalobos said in a phone interview. "He is really fast, and he constantly pressures the ball... He is one of the forwards that when he gets the ball, he doesn't stop. He is the only forward for us, and he just pressures up top every single possession."

Regardless, VanWingerden wasn't able to stop Lynden Christian from scoring four second-half goals.

"Right after we got out of the first half, they just lost their momentum and lost the game," Villalobos said.

Both Nooksack Valley (4-9-1, NWC 2-7-1) and Lynden Christian (7-4-2, 5-3-2) next play on Tuesday, April 23, with the Pioneers traveling to Sehome and the Lyncs hosting Meridian. Both are NWC matches.
