Torres' hat trick pushes Lynden over Sehome 6-2

Arturo Torres' hat trick lifted the Lynden boys' soccer team over Sehome 6-2 on Friday, April 19, in a Northwest Conference match at Lynden.

The Lions wasted no time with a goal by Isaac Bogart in the 10th minute off one of Carson Sandland's four assists. Torres followed up Bogart's initial goal with his first of the game 10 minutes later off an assist by Gerardo Quiroz.

"(Carson and Arturo) both played really well," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "Carson was our player of the game last time, and probably will be again. Those two guys were the ones who shined."

Sehome scored goals in the 50th and 65th minutes, but two late goals by Torres put the game away.

Both Lynden (5-2-6, NWC 4-1-4) and Sehome (5-7-1, NWC 3-6-0) play on Tuesday, April 23, with the Lions hosting Blaine and Sehome welcoming Nooksack Valley. Both are NWC matches.
