The Ferndale girls' tennis team won two matches but fell 5-2 at Anacortes in a Northwest Conference game Wednesday, April 17.
"I'm really pleased with our doubles teams that had a strong performance," Ferndale coach Rudy Vendiola said in a phone interview. "They played strong and were stronger each set. We're starting to get some momentum halfway through the season."
Cassidy Newman and Ally Bagley won the first doubles match 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 for the Golden Eagles (0-3 NWC, 0-7) and Carly Bannerman and Shelby Slaughter won the second doubles 6-4, 6-3.
"Our number one doubles team were the most consistent team all year and secured the other victory," Vendiola said. "And Jamie (Pettinger), although she lost, was in a very hard battle and it could have been flipped the other way."
Ferndale hosts Blaine on Friday, April 19, in a Northwest Conference match.
