The Sehome baseball team was able to come back and defeat Mount Baker 2-1 in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday, April 16, at Mount Baker High School.
"They put a lot of pressure on us defensively but we were able to make the plays and respond," Mount Baker coach Quinn LeSage said in a phone interview. "We were able to load the bases in the seventh but just couldn't get that timely hit when we needed it. We had a shot."
Sehome (6-1 NWC, 12-3) was led by Justin Reilly, who went 1 for 1 with an RBI and Tyler Knutsen, who went 1 for 3.
The Mountaineers (2-4 NWC, 5-8) were led by Titus Balvanz, who went 2 for 4 with a run and Andrew Zender, who went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
"For us, once again Andrew Zender did a great job competing on the hill," LeSage said. "Sehome is a really disciplined team."
Sehome hosts Blaine on Wednesday, April 17, for a Northwest Conference game, while Mount Baker travels to Burlington-Edison.
