As Bellingham Airport has expanded, parking has become more difficult for travellers. The lots are more crowded than ever and the cost has risen to $10 a day.
Getting a ride from friends or a taxi is sometimes an option, but it adds to the traffic congestion in front of the terminal and is not an environmentally friendly way to go.
WTA Route 50 runs about every hour and a half during the day from downtown, with no evening or Sunday service. The closest bus stop is nearly a mile from the terminal. That is a long way to haul luggage in the rain.
The airport is a major destination and I do not understand why WTA does not service it. Bus service to the airport from downtown Bellingham would be a help to the whole community. It would decrease traffic congestion at the curb, and help the environment by reducing emissions from cars.
I would use this service both to and from the airport, and I expect that many other citizens would too.
