The Meridian baseball team shut out Blaine 4-0 in a Northwest Conference game Monday, April 15, in Blaine.
"Tanner Tutterow did an outstanding job on the mound and completely overpowered us," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview. "He did a great job commanding his fastball and he was too much for us to handle."
The Trojans (2-4 NWC, 8-4) were led by Tucker Bronkema, who batted 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, Jeremy Brockmann, who batted 1 for 3 with an RBI and a walk, and Davis Phillips, who batted 1 for 3 with an RBI and a double.
Blaine (0-6 NWC, 6-8) was led by Matt Vogee, who batted 1 for 3 and Ryan Randall, who batted 1 for 1.
"(Blaine pitcher Zach) Rector pitched a good game and we gave them three of their runs on errors," Linville said. "It could have been 0-0 going into the sixth. When you score zero, your pitcher has to be perfect."
The Trojans host Anacortes in a Northwest Conference game Wednesday, April 17, while Blaine travels to Sehome.
