BELLINGHAM - A representative from the Seattle Mariners and the owner of a local shellfish farm are among the speakers at an upcoming business conference.
The ninth annual Future of Business Conference will be held April 25-26 in Bellingham. The conference, put together by Sustainable Connections, will kick off Thursday, April 25, with speakers and locally grown and made food and drinks at Depot Market Square.
On Friday, April 26, the Leopold building will host the conference, with speakers, workshops and networking opportunities.
"This conference is a value-packed evening and day connecting with fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders exploring the latest and most innovative approaches and practices for a lean and thriving business," Erin McCain-Anderson, Sustainable Connections' events coordinator, said in a news release.
Speakers include Scott Jenkins, vice president of operations of Seattle Mariners/Safeco Field, discussing how recycling and energy-efficiency efforts have boosted recycling by 70 percent and saved more than $1 million.
Bill Taylor, owner of Taylor Shellfish Farms, will discuss being a locally owned company in an international business.
