Noe Betancourt-Cruz scored twice to give the Bellingham boys' soccer team a 2-0 victory over Sehome in a Northwest Conference match at home Thursday, April 11.
"It was a good result for us and I'm pleased with the shutout," Bellingham coach Matt Zigulis said in a phone interview. "The key was the effort we put forth and the work they showed on and off the ball. The defense did a good job dealing with Sehome's attack."
Betancourt-Cruz scored in the 39th and 56th minutes for the Red Raiders (6-0-1 NWC, 10-0-1).
"I'm really proud of our guys," Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. "It didn't go quite right for us but we know we lost to a good team. The dagger was losing our captain, Sam Diehl, to an injury and they scored right after he went out. If breaks had been a little different it could have been 1-1."
Bellingham travels to Sedro-Woolley in a Northwest Conference match Monday, April 15, while Sehome (2-4-0 NWC, 4-5-1) hosts Blaine.
