The Mount Baker baseball team was able to hold on to win 6-4 at home over Nooksack Valley in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, April 11.
"I was really pleased with the way we competed," Mount Baker coach Quinn LeSage said in a phone interview. "Andrew Zender really set the tone on the hill for us and got better as the game went on. We didn't play a flawless game but we competed and I'm happy with the win."
Zender earned the win for the Mountaineers (2-2 NWC, 5-6) and improved to 1-2 on the year. The Mountaineers were led in hitting by Tyrel Cronk, who batted 3 for 3 with an RBI, Seth Bass, who batted 2 for 3 with a double and Jacob Marr, who batted 2 for 4 with two runs.
The Pioneers (2-2 NWC, 5-6) were led by Eben Rossmiller, who batted 2 for 3 with a run.
Mount Baker hosts Sehome in a Northwest Conference game Friday, April 12, while Nooksack Valley travels to Lynden.
