The Bellingham girls' tennis team was able to defeat Squalicum 4-1 before the rain forced the final two matches to end early in a Northwest Conference match at home Wednesday, April 10.
"All the doubles matches were really competitive," Bellingham coach Steve Chronister said in a phone interview. "We were glad to play and had to scramble to get it in. Both teams were playing well but I thought our singles girls did a nice job today."
Bella Hoyos defeated Kirsten Powell 6-0, 6-2 for Bellingham (1-0 NWC, 7-0) in the first singles match. Kate Troutman and Cari Pearsall defeated Makena DeGolier and Zoe Roberts 6-1, 7-6 in the first doubles match.
Kim Dorr and Rachel Dorr earned the win for the Storm (0-1 NWC, 3-2) after defeating Catie Welch and Tess Owen.
Squalicum hosts Sedro-Woolley on Friday, April 12, while Bellingham hosts Sehome on Monday, April 15, both Northwest Conference games.
