In March, Bellingham International Airport set a new monthly record for passenger traffic.
Last month, 61,402 people flew out of the airport, topping the previous record of 55,407 set in July 2012, according to data compiled by the Port of Bellingham.
For the first quarter of 2013, the number of passengers flying out of Bellingham totaled 151,730, up 14.8 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
In March, Allegiant had 35,929 passengers, while Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air combined for 25,479. The end of March and early April was so busy that port officials urged local residents to be dropped off at the airport because the parking lots were reaching capacity.
