The Northwest Guitar Festival, now in its 22nd year, is hosted by Western Washington University under the direction of David Feingold, professor of music and director of the classical guitar studies at WWU.
A three-day event this year, the festival kicks off Friday morning, April 12, at Firehouse Performing Arts Center. At 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, a concert at Mount Baker Theatre with a performance of Rodrigo's "Concierto D'Aranjuez" by the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra will feature guitarist Sharon Isbin.
For the festival's competition, semi-finalists and the four finalists will compete Friday and Saturday. The semi-final round begins at 10 a.m., with about 20 competitors each playing for about 10 minutes. Admission varies; tickets are at 360-650-6146 and tickets.wwu.edu.
