The Bellingham Blazers still haven't scored their first goal two days into the USA Hockey Junior National Tournament.
North Iowa, which is a favorite to win the tournament, scored 30 seconds into the game and kept the goals coming, blanking the Blazers 7-0 Friday morning, April 5, in Rochester, Minn.
Bellingham lost 6-0 during its opening-round game on Thursday.
The Blazers only trailed 2-0 heading into the third period, but Bellingham conceded five goals during the final 12 1/2 minutes of play. Blazers' goalkeeper Cody Foster saved 45 of the 52 shots directed towards him.
"We played better today, but in the end we made way too many unforced errors," coach Mark Collins said in a press release. "They were a much older team than we are. I was happy how we were in the game for as long as we were."
Bellingham plays its final game of the tournament against New Hampshire at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
