Ballots will be mailed beginning Friday, April 5, to registered voters in the city of Ferndale for the April 23 special election, said Whatcom County Auditor Debbie Adelstein.
Ferndale voters will decide whether to approve a $550,000 bond to help pay for a new Ferndale library. The measure needs to be approved by 60 percent or more of the voters to pass.
If it gets the OK, the owner of a $250,000 home would pay $11.86 a year in additional property taxes.
Voters who haven't received their ballots by Friday, April 12, should contact the Election Division of the Whatcom County Auditor's Office at 360-676-6742 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
