SUDDEN VALLEY - Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District will be flushing water mains through fire hydrants from April 8 to June 27, maintenance that may discolor water.
The discolored water isn't a health hazard but could stain laundry. People are advised to run cold water to remove any discolored water from the flushing in their area. Water customers should avoid running hot discolored water to prevent it from entering the water tank.
In addition, the district and area fire agencies ask homeowners to trim growing vegetation and remove debris around fire hydrants. The district trims during the flushing, but vegetation grows back quickly.
For questions, call the district office at 360-734-9224 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
