The Nooksack Valley baseball team held on to win 6-3 at Meridian in a Northwest Conference game Friday, March 29.
"They got on us early and Tanner (Tutterow) did not have great stuff," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "But he really battled through six innings and kept us in the game. This game was a game of mistakes and we made more than they did."
The Pioneers (1-1 NWC, 2-5) were led by Brandon Turnberg, who batted 2 for 3, and Joey Scheffer and Ethan Vinup, who each batted 2 for 4.
The Trojans (0-2 NWC, 5-2) were led by Jeremy Brockmann, who batted 1 for 2 with a double and Josh Hosick, who batted 1 for 2.
"Nooksack came to play and were excited and played hard," Slesk said. "I hand it to them. They were the better team and played better than we did."
Nooksack travels to Friday Harbor for a double-header on Saturday, March 30, while Meridian next plays on Monday, April 1, at Sedro-Woolley.
