The Bellingham boys' soccer team scored five goals in the second half of its 7-1 win over Blaine at home in a Northwest Conference game Thursday, March 28.
"I'm happy with the result and we really picked it up in the second half," Bellingham coach Matt Zigulis said in a phone interview. "I got to see a lot of players today and the underclassmen had some good games."
Conlon Kiffney scored first for the Red Raiders (4-0-1 NWC, 7-0-1) in the 18th minute, and Keegan Nutt added the second a minute later.
Noe Betancourt-Cruz scored two goals for Bellingham, one in the 42nd and one in the 76th. Emile Diffley scored a goal in the 44th minute and Brad Dale added another in the 47th minute. Kiffney scored his second in the 74th minute.
"Noe played really well and had two goals," Zigulis said. "He played well up top for us and was a standout player. It was a good result all around and we did especially well in the second half."
Danny Thorpe scored for Blaine (0-3-0 NWC, 1-6-0) in the 78th minute.
Bellingham hosts Squalicum Saturday, March 30 in a non-conference game, while Blaine travels to Ferndale Tuesday, April 9, in a Northwest Conference match.
