When I read the story in the March 20 paper about the differences between the county and the city over the proposal to protect our lake from a disastrous invasion by foreign mollusks I wondered, are we going to succumb to the disease that has paralyzed our nation's capitol or are we going to get something done? The county says the fee is too high and the city says it is just right. They can sit on their positions or they can agree on a fee that is acceptable to both and then implement a program that is acceptable to both in time to implement it this boating season. The first alternative will result in no action and a serious risk to our water supply while the second may well result in a real solution to our problem while it is still in its infancy.
To me as a consumer of our water and a boater the choice is obvious.
