Alex Guenther scored twice as the Lynden boys' soccer team defeated Burlington-Edison 3-1 in a Northwest Conference match at home Tuesday, March 26.
"We played well and were in control of the game so it was great," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "We had a full team today so that was nice. We got up 3-0 and that was really good to see."
Guenther scored his first goal in the 20th minute on a pass from Isaac Bogart, and then in the 30th minute off a pass from Arturo Torres. Bogart scored Lynden's final goal in the 60th minute on a pass from Torres.
"One of the ways we were able to expose them is using the width of our field," Smiley said. "It can be hard for teams that play on football fields to adjust. I thought Jordan Hernandez's work rate was fantastic today."
