The Blaine boys' baseball team held on to defeat Friday Harbor 3-2 in a non-conference game at home Monday, March 25.
"For us the story was Zach Rector on the mound," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview. "He pitched a complete game and a no-hitter going until the seventh inning. He did a great job pitching ahead and kept his pitch count down. He was definitely the story for us and his pitching was fantastic."
Blaine (4-2) was led in batting by Matt Vogee, who batted 1 for 3 with a run, an RBI and a double, and Tony Goucher, who batted 1 for 3 with an RBI and a walk.
"Friday Harbor looked pretty good today and their two pitchers they have were excellent," Linville said. "There weren't a lot of hits and we did a good job getting the hits we needed to. Vogee's hit was big for us."
Blaine hosts Burlington-Edison to open Northwest Conference play Wednesday, March 27.
