The Lynden baseball team rallied and scored seven runs in the fifth inning to defeat Anacortes 14-8 in a non-conference game at home Monday, March 25.
"Both teams hit the ball extremely well with a combined 29 hits for the two teams," Lynden coach Cory White said in a phone interview. "There were a lot of extra-base hits by both teams and our hitters really backed up our pitchers today."
Lynden had 16 hits and was led by Josh Kraght, who batted 3 for 4 with two RBI and three runs, Zach Vis, who batted 2 for 5 with a double, two runs and an RBI and Matt Meyer, who batted 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and five RBI.
Tanner Olson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI and Ryan Mouat went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Lions (5-0).
"Our pitcher Kody Ames does not get a lot of varsity time and came in in the third and pitched really well and had good composure," White said. "He gave up no runs the rest of the game and I was really pleased with his pitching today."
Lynden hosts Meridian on Wednesday, March 27, to begin Northwest Conference play.
