The Squalicum girls' tennis team defeated Blaine 5-2 in a non-conference match at Blaine Monday, March 25.
"It didn't go too badly," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. "If I could only pick two matches to win it would be nice to win the number ones and we were able to do that."
Saskia Dolk won the first singles for Blaine (2-2) over Squalicum's (2-0) Kirsten Powell 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.
"It was kind of a who could stay more consistent in the first singles match," Freal said. "Saskia was more consistent and she came out on top. It was a good effort by her when the score got tight in the tiebreaker."
Emily Grayston and Alex Henderson earned the other win for Blaine in the first doubles 6-1, 7-6 over Makena DeGoiler and Zoe Roberts.
Tirsa Randal-Gruter won the third singles for Squalicum 6-0, 6-0 over Renee Uruchurtu and Kim Dorr and Rachel Dorr won the second doubles 6-3, 6-3 over Alicia Allison and Shirin Roth-Lerner
