The Sehome softball team rallied in the seventh inning and scored six runs to defeat Lynden Christian 9-5 in a Northwest Conference game Monday, March 25, at Lynden Christian High School.
"For six innings it was a great game by both teams," Lynden Christian coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. "We jumped out on them early and were up 5-3 going into the seventh and we got away from our game plan of pitching low. They have outstanding hitters one through nine and took advantage of that."
The Mariners (1-0 NWC, 3-3) were led by Megan Bayless, who batted 2 for 4 with two RBI and a double, and Rachel Albert, who batted 4 for 5 with four RBI and a double.
"Rachel was definitely the outstanding player," Moorlag said. "She made some fine plays and had good at-bats. Every single one of them she got something done for her team."
The Lyncs (0-1 NWC, 1-3) were led by Shelby Brown, who batted 1 for 4 with two RBI and Lexi Vander Griend, who batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI.
Sehome hosts Sedro-Woolley and Lynden Christian travels to Blaine, both for Northwest Confernece games Tuesday, March 26.
