The Lynden girls' tennis team was able to win 4-3 over Ferndale in a non-conference match Monday, March 25.
The match was the second half of the originally scheduled one from Tuesday, March 19.
"It was kind of a lackluster match because only three singles were played," Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. "We needed to pull off two of the three matches to win. It was exciting on one hand and surreal on the other. I was proud of how the girls pulled it out to win it."
Katherine Haveman defeated Trina Byers in the second singles 6-4, 6-1 for the Lions.
Ballard said the doubles matches, played previously, were played exceptionally well, but that the teams have improved even more since then.
Morgan Otter and Tilly Timmer defeated Taylor Knutson and Hannah Pitcsh in the first doubles 6-4, 6-2 for Lynden.
Jamie Pettinger defeated Devon Kollmeyer 6-3, 6-3 for Ferndale.
Lynden hosts Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, March 26, while Ferndale travels to Bellingham on Thursday, March 28, both non-conference matches.
