Online registration has opened for this year’s Washington Coast Cleanup, to be held April 20. Volunteers are needed to spend part of day removing marine debris from their favorite beaches. The cleanup involves beaches from the Makah Indian Reservation to Cape Disappointment.
Whether you hike or drive to your beach, there’s debris and trash to be picked up. The beaches along the northern coast feature dense forests and dramatic sea stacks, while the beaches along the southern coast have easy car access and vast, open stretches of sand and surf.
Volunteers typically arrive early in the morning and work until about noon. A free lunch will be offered at several locations along the coast.
