FIVE GOLFERS TO WATCH
Mark's average score last year ranked 11th in the NWC. He could be top five this year with a number of graduations. Mark struggled during last year's state tournament and failed to make the cut, but he has added motivation to get to day two in his final sports season as a Lion.
Making the cut the first time at state is tough. McCarter not only made it, he continued his tremendous season-ending play with a 22nd-place finish. McCarter made huge strides towards the end of the year and will look to build off that this season.
Paul's game kept getting stronger as the season went on, as he claimed medalist honors five times last year. He capped his sophomore campaign with a 24th-place finish at the Class 2A State Tournament. With two years left, Paul is one coach David Bobilott has to be thrilled to have around.
Lynden Christian, senior
Scholten placed second in the Class 1A State Tournament his sophomore year. He finished third and only 2 strokes behind the 1A state champ last year. Scholten is ready to capture a state title of his own as a senior. But with Blaine now in the 1A ranks, he'll have Ryan Wallen to deal with.
After winning an individual state title in 2011, Wallen settled for second place during last year's Class 2A State Tournament. The Wyoming commit, who earns medalist honors just about everywhere he plays, is undoubtedly eager to finish his prep golf career as a two-time state champion.
