BELLINGHAM - Whatcom County residents can learn about ocean acidification at a free seminar Thursday, March 28, in the Dome Room of the Bellingham Cruise Terminal, 355 Harris Ave.
The event is 6 to 8 p.m. and will include a Q&A session. It will include a panel of experts who will provide an overview of ocean acidification, its impact and solutions.
The Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee is hosting the event.
Ocean acidification is primarily caused by oceans absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It alters ocean chemistry and endangers sea life, which also threatens commercial oyster operations and the seafood industry in Washington state, organizers said.
