Arturo Torres scored twice for Lynden, helping the Lions top Squalicum 3-1 on Friday, March 22, in a Northwest Conferece match at Civic Stadium.
"Arturo had his first goal of the year, and we were waiting for him to get his groove," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "It was a great battle. After we went up 3-1, Squalicum created pressure for the final 20 minutes."
Squalicum's lone goal came in the third minute of the match, but Lynden's Isaac Bogart answered right back less than a minute later.
Lynden (1-0-2 NWC, 2-1-4 overall) hosts Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, March 26, in a Northwest Conference match while Squalicum (0-1-1 NWC, 2-2-1 overall) travels to Sehome.
