Tutterow, Meridian defeat Blaine 4-0

Published: March 23, 2013

The Meridian baseball team was able defeat Blaine 4-0 in a non-conference game at home Friday, March 22.

"It was a tight game throughout and we were able to just chip away and hold on," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "I like how the kids were able to hit situationally today getting guys in. Blaine did really well and the game could have gone either way. We were just fortunate to get guys in when we needed to."

Blaine (4-1) was led by Cody Gobbato and Matt Vogee, who both batted 1 for 3.

The Trojans (4-0) were led by Davis Phillips, who batted 3 for 3, and Tanner Tutterow, who batted 1-2, as well as earning the win.

"Tanner was really key," Slesk said. "He threw a good game and only walked two and only gave up two hits. We played decent defense behind him, but we did make three errors. He threw a big game for us."

Meridian hosts Renton in a non-conference game Saturday, March 23, while Blaine hosts Friday Harbor on Monday, March 25.
