Alex Tyska and Roman Vetkov each scored a goal and led the Mount Baker boys' soccer team to a 2-0 win over Friday Harbor at home in a non-conference match Friday, March 22.
"The boys played really well in the second half," Mount Baker coach Jason Jorgensen said in a phone interview. "We were able to sort things out in the second half and ended up getting the win so that was good."
Vetkov scored in the 22nd minute and Tyska scored in the 65th minute for the Mountaineers.
Bryce Logan earned the shutout for Mount Baker (1-1-0 NWC, 4-2-0).
"Tim Tikhonov really stood out today for us," Jorgensen said. "He was just winning every head ball and Austin Makela and him were solid in the backline and made sure everything was cleaned up."
Mount Baker travels to Lynden Christian for a Northwest Conference match Tuesday, March 26.
